2008 Tornado Soccer Camps at King CollegeThe 2008 Tornado Soccer Camps at King College will be directed by Matt Lavinder (King College Men), Michael Swan (King College Women), and Declan Jogi (Founder of Destiny Foundation). Two weeks (June 16-20 and July 14-18) will be offered at King College with a Top Player Only Academy section offered in each of the two weeks. The camps at King College are open to players ages 6-12. The TPO Academy is designed to challenge players who are among the top third of their age group and want a more challenging environment. Both King College weeks run Monday – Friday from 9-4 with an 8:30 early drop off. In addition to the two weeks at King College, we will also be offering satellite camps at three different locations: Abingdon (June 23-27), Lebanon, VA (July 7-11), and Elizabethton (July 21-25). Each of the satellite camps will be comprised of a half-day morning session for players ages 6 -12 from 9am-12noon. There will also be a half-day afternoon 3v3 camp designed for players ages 8 – 14 and teams. The afternoon camp, which runs daily from 1:30 – 4:30, will be coached within the 3v3 game, the basis of soccer. The last afternoon will consist of a 3v3 tournament open to campers from any of the 3v3 satellite camps.
Our PhilosophyThe Tornado Soccer Camps will utilize the same philosophy and fun approach used by Matt Lavinder for the past 10 years of King College soccer camps. The approach is based upon the individual player within the one on one (1v1) game. The sole focus is on developing the fundamentals of the game in a fun, dynamic environment. We’ve found the single most important element of coaching children is developing their self-confidence, helping them to believe they can perform the fundamentals of the game. The key is an extremely low staff: camper ratio that maximizes individual attention. This philosophy has been hugely successful as it keeps young players motivated and engaged through the most innovative coaching methods in the United States.
